Notes: Like other open clusters, this one is relatively young at 200 to 300 million years. That means it formed in the Triassic, a period we can associate with flying reptiles (pterasaurs), the first dinosaurs, and the first true mammals. M39 contains, very roughly, 50 to 100 stars (SEDS).
