13. Messier 42, Orion Nebula

Notes: The Orion Nebula is 24 ly across and relatively close, so it shows up large. This is our first image with the camera modified to allow the red Hydrogen-α light energy band to pass. The green hue in the interior may be reflected light given off by ionized Oxygen produced in star formation. Zoom in/out with ⌘↑(+/-) (Mac), ctrl (+/-) (PC).
